We are the last ones to know. Kids, there goes your Summer Pool Party.

There was a time when the Phoenix Hotel, and whatever restaurant/club was attached to it, had a rep as the rock star crash pad in town. From the funky '50s hotel rooms to the outdoor pool, the space hosted plenty of memorable Hollywood-to-the-north events: among them a packed private performance by then buzz boy Robbie Williams and the Strokes' first (boozy) SF press junket. The lounge has also had its days in the sun, with regular pool parties and L.O.W. happy hours. But the place is going through changes--after falling under the radar for a while now, the Bambuddha Lounge at the Phoenix is closing, according to Eater. Eater also reports that Joie de Vivre, the owners of the Lounge and the Phoenix, is looking for a buyout. Our tiny little taste of L.A. has fallen by the wayside. Although I'll always have a great final memory of the place: interviewing Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh, poolside.
